About Me
Lydia Michelle Espinoza is an up and coming prolific figure in the Southern California art and cultural scene. Graduating from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles in 2007, Lydia began her art career interning at Patrick Painter, Inc. Gallery and assisting at Luis de Jesus Gallery. This led to many other opportunities such as becoming the assistant to the director, Robert Miller, at Rio Hondo College Gallery. Under Miller's direction, she curated the photography section of the student art show and has been an longtime contributor of SUR:biennial. In 2015, she aided in the Biennial receiving a Mayoral Commendation from the City of Whittier as well as support from LA County Supervisor Don Knabe.
She continued working alongside artists installing their artwork in different venues and galleries throughout Los Angeles. Because of her unique aesthetic and design skills, she was offered a scholarship to Art Center at Night in Pasadena, California to enrich her Graphic Design skills. Thereafter, she undertook the responsibility of new projects and clients as the co-founder of 562CREATIVES Design Firm, where she worked from 2013 to 2015. Since leaving the firm, she has continued working independently on creative projects.
Because of her passion for the arts and her community, she has been a part of several local organizations such as Hillcrest Festival of Fine Arts as the Planning & Exhibits Committee Chair, 2013-2016, Whittier Cultural Arts Foundation Board of Directors as Fundraising Co-Chair and The W Art Exhibit Curatorial Chair, 2013-2015. She is currently Vice President, President Elect of the Whittier Historical Society & Museum Board of Directors with a focus on cultivating the image of the Museum and developing community partnerships. Lydia Espinoza currently resides in Whittier, California and hopes to help bring back a little more culture and art to "Ye Friendly Towne."
